Sales Rep, South
I engage with our customers, both in person and by telephone, to introduce current promotions, as well as recommend books and sidelines that are of special interest to their buyers. Having built many successful, long-term relationships with my accounts and being familiar with our products makes it easier to meet the needs of our customers.
I enjoy reading mostly nonfiction, particularly biographies and American history to expand my knowledge. I find the writings of Shelby Foote, an American historian and novelist, on Civil War history educational, thrilling, and rich in detail.
Regional Sales Manager, West
I work closely with our sales reps and indie retail partners to develop new strategies and programs to meet the needs of an ever-changing industry.
I read a little bit of everything, but mostly historical nonfiction and science fiction. I guess it's to satisfy the curiosity of where we have been and where we might be going. As for music, one of my all-time favorite albums is Wilco's
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
. It's a dense and experimental mix of Americana, alt-country, pop, and indie rock. That combination shouldn't make sense, but somehow it does. The adversity the band overcame to make one of the more original albums of the past 20 years is a fascinating story and the end result is a great piece of art.

I help my customers in the Northeast from my office in Texas. I am a self-proclaimed over-thinker and I regularly go out of my way to help my customers solve problems and get them the products they need. I possess an upbeat personality and I always believe in having a great time, which shows through my love of dance music and anything that gets me moving. I'm an avid runner, swimmer, and fitness fanatic, and I will listen to anything that is upbeat and puts me in a good mood.

My territory includes independent bookstores and retailers in Southern California and the Southwest states, plus Alaska and Hawaii. I enjoy learning about my customers' needs and how their businesses operate so I can help serve them from Baker & Taylor's wide array of programs and services.

I serve our customers in the middle of the country. I usually have at least two books going at the same time, and while the genre of one will differ like the weather, the other is almost always historical fiction, since I’m a history buff. They offer an intriguing story, and they re-create a period or event that I would have loved to experience first-hand.

My favorite part of being a “sales guy” is the constantly evolving cycle of meeting new customer prospects and growing that relationship. Developing genuine relationships and excelling in providing a top-quality customer experience are two of my most important goals that never change.
I usually find myself reading nonfiction (Malcolm Gladwell, bios, history) and anything related to music and Italy. Being a long-time musician (I've played drums since I was 12), I enjoy listening to all types of rock and jazz, and always seem to find some common music interests to chat about with my customers.

, not to mention Arthur and Curious George. Other than that, I occasionally read murder mystery/romance fiction, Clive Cussler, travel books, and books about learning something new.

I started in the book business in 1978 (before many of you were even born) and I can't imagine a better job than talking to booksellers every day. It's my job to keep my wonderful indies aware of all of the things we have going on and to keep them happy and ordering from us.
When I'm not working, I love to garden. I also like light, easy reads and inspirational books to keep me focused on the positive and good in life.

by Todd Burpo is a pretty awesome book, and it helped me during a very difficult time in my life.

I love having a job that lets me to spend my time with people. I enjoy meeting with my customers and sharing insights about books and trends within the book world. This has been the most personally rewarding path I have taken in my career.
For me the greatest thing in life is when I get inspired and my imagination takes off. When it happens, the result is the same: I become a kid again and anything seems possible. When asked for a film recommendation, there has always been a movie that captured my imagination as child, and now as I watch it as an adult I'm thrilled that it has lost none of its appeal. I'm talking about Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

I read as much as I can so that I can understand what's important to our customers and their shoppers—but mostly because I can't help it.
I gravitate mostly to fiction and children's stories that are beautiful in some fashion. I'm a nut for books about books (

by Carlos Ruiz Zafón), books about plucky females (

by Amor Towles), books with British accents (the lovelies from Persephone Books), plus anything Kate DiCamillo writes.

I like to read for pure entertainment. I read primarily mysteries and thrillers, heavy on commercial authors. When I am not reading for pure entertainment, I like to read books that make me better—a better boss, a better friend, a better person.

I like to create and maintain partnerships with my customers not only to keep them informed about Baker & Taylor's offerings, but also to help them maintain profitability in their stores.
I mostly read suspense/thriller fiction to relax—especially if it is politically themed. When it comes to nonfiction, I enjoy reading presidential memoirs. It has always fascinated me to understand the mindset of those individuals, regardless of party lines. Having a large respect for all forms of music, my tastes are quite diverse. I can find talent in singing as much as I can in a heavy metal guitar riff, but my first love will always be good, old-fashioned, old-school R&B from Motown, Stax, etc.
I work behind the scenes to calculate—and pay—our My Books and More website customers. I also provide analysis for the promotions that we run for our independent retail customers. I also responsible for making weekly updates to the merchandising on TS 360.
I enjoy reading fiction, mainly, but not limited to, African American authors. I love a good, sappy, dramatic romance where everyone lives happily ever after. I also enjoy reading historical fiction that offers insights into what life was like during a particular time. Since working at Baker & Taylor, however, I’ve read a few suspense novels that have been extremely hard to put down, so perhaps my preferences are changing…or better yet, expanding!

I work with independent bookstores and college bookstores in the Mid-Atlantic region, and with several specialty retailers who have a more national market. The majority of my time is spent visiting with my customers to outline Baker & Taylor programs and services and to help them meet their consumers' needs.
I love to read history books, and more specifically, U.S. war history. I enjoy books that share the personal stories and struggles of individuals throughout history, and learn a great deal from them.

I work behind the scenes and make things happen. The most rewarding part of my job is the coordination of our STEPS program, which helps new booksellers build their initial inventory and existing stores expand sections in their stores.
I prefer watching comedy-dramas (favorite movie,
